  Al-Anon is a fellowship of men and women whose lives have been or are being disturbed by another's compulsive drinking. Al-Anon groups meet to seek solutions to the problems created by alcoholism. Alateen is a part of Al-Anon for teenagers. Call for meeting times and locations.

  Alcoholics Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength and hope with each other to solve their common problem and help others recover from alcoholism. Call for meeting times and locations.
• American Cancer Society Waltham/Watertown Unit - 255 Bear Hill Road - 781-890-2266
  The American Cancer Society raises funds for research, education and patient services, sponsors programs for cancer patients and on tobacco and breast health, and provides rides to medical oppointments for cancer patients.   Beaverbrook Guidance Center provides counseling for children and families with emotional problems related to family, school, social, work or peer situations.

  The Center provides outpatient and residential treatment, day activity services, and drug and alcohol counseling for adolescents and adults.
• Children's Charter - 77 Rumford Avenue - 781-894-4307
  This is a clinic for trauma victims, particularly those who have suffered sexual and physical abuse. The clinic offers evaluations, individual and group counseling, and art therapy.

  The center offers free children's developmental screenings four times each year for children with speech, hearing, attention or coordination difficulties. Screenings are performed by certified occupational therapists, physical therapists and speech pathologists.

  Communicative Health Care Associates offers free screenings for children relating to speech, language and swallowing difficulties.
• Early Intervention at Wayside Beaverbrook - 118 Central Street - 781-891-0555
  Early Intervention is a program sponsored by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health which helps parents to recognize and understand the development of their young child, ages 0 to 3 years old. Parents are helped regarding ways to foster their childs developmental growth through activities incorporated into routines in a family's typical day. Specific areas include feeding, speech and language, movement (gross motor and fine motor), cognition, and social/emotional. Clinicians on staff include physical therapist, occupational therapist, registered nurse, social worker, developmental educator, and speech therapist.   The Addiction Treatment Center is an in-patient drug and alcohol treatment center.

  The MS Society provides information, counseling, education, pen pals, legal referrals, advocacy and some financial assistance to people with MS and their families. Volunteer opportunities: Fundraising, office work, services.

  Middlesex Human Service Agency's outpatient substance abuse counseling center offers men, women and adult children of alcoholics assessment and group, individual and family therapy.

  TOPS is a weekly peer support group for men, women, teens and preteens to help them lose weight and keep it off. Waltham has two ongoing groups. Volunteer opportunities: Speakers on nutrition, exercise and fashion.

  Waltham Cystic Fibrosis raises money to fund research for a cure to this disease. The group also sponsors event that involve children with cystic fibrosis. Volunteer opportunities: Fundraising and events.

  The program provides nutrition education and food safety information, training and workshops, and home study courses. Volunteer opportunities: Teach nutrition training classes.
• Waltham Visiting Nurse Association - 764A Main Street - 781-893-1405
  The VNA provides nurses and home health aides for home care and offers a variety of clinics on children, nutrition, blood pressure, diabetes, and flu shots. Physical and occupational therapists, speech therapists and a medical social worker are also available for home visits through the VNA.
